Thanks for the support. Any one else in the boards thinking of fighting MMA or competing in BJJ? I know we've got some boxers in the Alaskan bros.
Great fight!!!

I compete in BJJ. With my new job I've found it hard to get in the type of training I want. And now car problems aren't helping any. I'm doing a 5K run in May. Then hopefully a BJJ tournament sometime early summer.

You've got some nice power man.

I looked at her, then my corner was like "FOCUS TOBY!"
I've got her on facebook. And she responded when I sent her the link to the fight...

WE'LL SEE! :D

Good luck with the 5k and any upcoming tournaments. Would love to see videos if you get 'em.

And yes, I hit hard --> Years of manual labour, naturally strong hands and long arms, and swinging for the fences all make for "good night Irene and 'BOOM' to the jawline". Gotta learn to keep my hands up though haha

I recommend anyone who has even thought about trying MMA to do so, I found it very exciting and you're always learning new things and improving. Look in to gyms in your area, unfortunately the one where I live is a little overpriced(more then couture's gym!) but, its a smaller gym, and you will often get more personal training with the smaller gyms, so its somewhat worth the extra money (although training with Mark Bocek, Mark Hominick and Chris Horodecki is quite tempting)

Good to see you had a successful debut Tobes! I'm planning on fighting at Lightweight as well maybe we'll cross paths one day
Yeah I train at a small place and get lots of private practice and lessons, but I'd like to move on to somewhere bigger with higher level training partners, coaches and facilities... Big gyms and small gyms both have their respective advantages and drawbacks

As to "crossing paths one day"... BRING IT ON!!! hahaha :) cheers

I feel the same way as you. Maybe in a year or so if I start getting to advanced I'll move, but for now the distance and hands on training make me want to stay. Where are you training out of anyway? And how long have you been training for?

And wow, my first pro fight, I'm pretty pumped, 50 bucks is a huge purse, do I get knockout/ fight of the night bonuses?
